Like the title says I'm having a issue getting hptunners edit mode to read my tune. "Scanner mode works"

I've tried different cables

Bit of the back story. Original car 2011 coupe was rear ended, swapped computer, trans and engine to a 2009 sedan. "I've tried both computers"

I've checked all the fuses, grounds ect.
The car now reads the newer computer vin as well.

must not be connected, with the hpt module u can just hook up power, earth, trigger power and canbus straight to the ecu to read it, sounds like ur missing a connection for some reason which is strange if u can read the data for scanner, what msg does it say when it cant connect ? if u try and it cant u will always get a msg

When I open the editor everything seems to go fine but after it finishes loading up, the button for read vehicle grey's out and I cannot click on it.

I'm not sure exactly what your saying about connecting directly to the computer?

Could it be a credit issue? I previously already bought credits for this computer tho.

i was just mentioning how easy it is as u can go straight to the ecu and connect using the canbus wires just to show how simple it connects so if its not then something is disrupting it, u might have to do an infolog and send it to hptuners support so they can see whats going on, if the button is greyed out then seems like it knows something isnt right as ive never seen that before, u can read without credits u only need them to then flash to the ecu

It's strange because the flash button I can still press

just thinking that the 2009 and 2011 may be different communication protocols i know GM changed it somewhere around mid 2009 i think, so u may have to use the ecu that suits the vehicle so it can all talk together, if ur using some modules from different years they may not all talk, im not that knowledgeable with that side of it but i know it can be an issue maby

I tried to put the stock computer back in the car same issue. Then I tried changing the vin. But it pulled up the newer vin 🤦.

The car was stuck in theft mode so I think when I fixed that the car relearned the newer vin.

Download the latest released or beta scanner/editor software, then 'Resync Interface' See if that may solve the issue.

I damaged may cable a month ago, bought an OEM from HPtuner. I am suspicious these days purchasing from non-authorized sources due how easy it is to infiltrate supply chains with counterfeit merchandise. Especially when troubleshooting, last thing you need is to wonder about replacement parts. It was delivered in a few days.

I fixed the issue! plugged in the battery charger, and opened the editor. I went to try and see if I could flash it. And it open up the folder of files to flash and it reset the editor. After that I could read it!!!

Thank you guys for all the help!

Good job, still, good to keep the software up to date and re-sync ;)

When you open the editor, it will keep the read function grayed out if you have a tune file open and it usually opens the last tune file. If you make sure no files (tunes) are open, it should read fine.

Sounds like you have it working now but food for thought for the future.
