In the market for a cheap small tavlet that i can mount in the car for data logging 1/4 mile pulls. Any obvious reason why this wouldn't work?

that's awesome. do you have a link to the mount you bought? I'll probably do the same for data logging.

This is the mount that I bought.

https://www.amazon.com/APPS2Car-Universal-Adjustable-Rotation-Locking/dp/B01C3ZKJYQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1522685978&sr=8-2&keywords=cd+player+tablet+mount

I caution you though that the triangular knob on the mount interferes with the MENU knob on the car. I had a M6x30mm socket head cap screw that I replaced the triangular knob with and finger tight on the M6x30 is plenty to hold the mount so you don't need an allen wrench.
perfect, thanks for the info. pretty sure I have a otg y-adapter too so it can charge at the same time.

I watched a youtube review of this tablet before I purchased it and the guy said that a y-adapter did not charger at the same time. If you get one to work please reply back and let us know.

Thinking about doing this too, how you liking it so far?

I'll probably do this tablet, slightly upgraded CPU from your post (not by much) and only about $70 for the tablet itself.

So far no issues. Data logs fine and writes tunes no problem. Battery has lasted me for like 5 or 6 hours of semi continuous use with logging and tuning. I bought the case below as well.

Just got mine from Amazon because of your success. Nice little device. My MPVI2 shows up Wednesday. I am going to try to use the same magnetic mount I use for my phone, will post pics when I have it all figured out.

I'm still using this tablet, has been working great. I wasn't able to use a magnet mount as it weighs too much (maybe just the version I have, but it won't hold my Samsung S8 either) so stuck with the "CD Player" mount and it is pretty solid that way.

Does this work for uploading remote tunes? I’m going to get a tune soon and need an inexpensive way to get hp tuners to work. Was going to get a cheap laptop for tuning only, but something like this would be even better.

I’ve got a couple iPads and an Apple desktop, but they’re worthless for tuning.

+1 for this device, I use it to log and write as well.

About 3 weeks ago the car went down after a car meet and the tablet was in the back seat since its so easy to toss or leave in the car. Anyway it allowed me to pull codes, log misfires, reset fuel trims etc and limp the car home. Ended up being a bad injector after 30k miles of e85 bottom line; but having this nifty tool helped pull me off the ledge when the cel started flashing and car died at a major intersection.
