How much V is too much for a reliable DD?

Looking at this. Trying to research all these parts but seems it may be a bit much for a reliable DD. Opinions?

This V is too much V for a "reliable Daily driver".
Without even exploring the impact (hah) of the branded title implications, NO.
A meth-injected,ethanol drinking triple-pumped sleeved stroked, catch canned, cammed, over-driven race-car-wannabe is likely NOT a candidate for reliable car of the year.
At least MINE isn't.
Do you have a shop, with a lift, a bunch of tools and spare time and money?

I do have a shop with a lift and all the tools in my back yard. I will still have another vehicle to drive and the V will run 93 only and the meth is plumbed but not turned on. But I get what you are saying. I just don't know this platform like I do my previous racecar wannabes that I have had over the years. Still doing lots of research though.
Such a tough question but I tend to agree with MrSurly. What I see as pros: probably a hell of a deal on the car because of the title. Looks like they went with high quality parts in the build. I had that clutch in my ZR1 and it's as light as a Honda Accord and will hold a lot of power. Cons: Fore fuel system sucks because you cannot run the tank below a 1/3 (some people even higher) without issues on hard acceleration. I would remove the the meth system and retune if it was a DD, so you don't need to worry about letting it run dry. I would retune no matter because with cars like these, normally the tuners spend a lot of time on the E tune and not as much time on the pump gas tune, since most people do not build to this level and use pump gas very often. Depending on how much you drive your DD, a loud, cammed, manual, horrible gas mileage car would probably get old really fast.

All good points. The PO did not run ethanol. And the meth is not being used. Also the dealer is getting the car tuned for e and pump gas again tomorrow and I plan to tell him I plan to run 93 only. I am taking all of y'alls advice to heart for sure. This is a big decision.
To misapply a famous Reddit trope: Anything's a DD if you're brave enough.

Don't think I would trust a performance tune from a dealer.
Do you have a dyno sheet? How's the precipitation where you live? I daily drive with 620 rwhp in the winter and 700+ in the summer. I wouldn't want much more for a daily driver.

the meth's not being used because the pumps fail often, they are a maintenance/wear item.
so i would be most concerned with the state of the current tune.

I have a 700hp V, I feel its perfectly fine for a daily so long as you have something else to drive when it rains because there's no point to having a high HP car like that and not driving on some kind of street drag tire.

Without knowing the cam specs, and not running methanol or any high concentration of ethanol thats about a 680--700hp car but being a manual its likely around 720?
I would not want to daily that. Maybe a dedicated race car, with a lot of funds to address issues. Kinda sounds like what the previous owner did.

You can get close to that 700whp number with simpler mods like pulleys, blower port, big throttle body, maybe exhaust and e85. Going to be more streetable, idle smoother etc.

So I chatted with the dealer a little more today. He is taking it to a shop for the e85 tune and a 93 tune. He is going to provide videos and dyno sheets when it is done. He also said if the meth pump is working when it is checked out he is going to use it. I assume that if it is tuned with Meth I would need to get a new tune if I decided not to run it, right?

Im in VA so we get rain but very little snow if any and I will still have my beater and my truck for those times.

Also I'm coming from a Mazda platform where we had to mix 93 and e85 and flash a new tune and run out all the ethanol and reflash if we didn't have a station. The dealer is telling me that the car will sense the percentage of ethanol and automatically retard timing and such for a 93 tune if I were to ever switch back. Is this a real thing? What kind of voodoo magic is that?!?! I sure hooe that is accurate as that would really mean I could just get in it and drive for the most part.

PO said he DDed it with his 8 month old and their car seat in the back. Said it still has cats and is very quiet from inside until you stomp it.

It can adjust for ethanol content, not methanol injection, IF it has been modified to include a flex fuel sensor and tuned for it, and IF you have enough fuel pump capacity AND injector capacity.

If anything is amiss, you will surely find out. If not soon, then when you get some good cold air with high barometric pressure.

Definitely not what you would want to introduce yourself to the platform unless you have deep pockets and/or do a lot of research and know what you are getting.

I would disable the meth injection and not tune with it unless you plan on dealing with it. These engines are relatively cheap to rebuild at roughly 10 to 30 grand so your call.

Fuck you cunts and your excuses!

Bigger blower, more pulley, 400" 10.2:1 and I daily it. I have the same shifter and make 850 rwhp on 93 pump.

104,000 miles snow, rain or shine. But... mostly shine.. 😇 with that said, I chose flex fuel and less timing over meth for practical reasons. I did most of my own tuning (with lots of help from Forum Friends)!

This is the message I needed! The dealer just finished detailing it and sent me some pictures and I'm damn near drooling.

I definitely think Im going to ask him to skip the meth. It has a combo tank in the trunk but meth is just a pain to deal with and if it stops spraying it is very expensive.

Since it's there, you can always deal with the meth down the road when you're more comfortable with it.

Neighbor and I are good. It only took a few years, but he shared some Blanton's 12 year the other night. I need to be a better friend. :D
