Anyone running gptunning stage 3 on stock converter?

How do you like it, and should I just put a converter in it before I finish putting it All back together?

My bad. I was under the impression OP was looking at cams that put you in the 700+ range. Looking back I do have a totally different set up-way more lift and duration. Circle D built the trans and recommended, along with Mamo not to go more that 3000 stall. Just slightly more than stock which is ~2000 because it will idle a little higher than stock.
There are lots of cams that will put you in the 700+ range and many of them require no converter change at all, or rocker changes etc. The power range it can support is not the metric that would require a change of converter to a higher stall speed. We have 1000+ hp cars running the stock stall speed in some applications. The main point is that since the OP has a different combo then you do, he may need a different converter or decide that none at all is needed for him and it isn't apples to apples.

I already have the cam I want the gp stage3. I was more so asking for peoples experience with stock vs aftermarket stalls with similar cam sizes
Still at the tuner. He decided to change out injectors and meth control. Also tune has to be spot on complete and sent to Circle D for review before they will warrant the trans. I’ll let you know my driving impressions hopefully early next week.

Week 8 and still at the tuner. Update- 700 whp part throttle pump gas. Tune is approved from Circle D. Just need to finish up the Alky Meth controller and she’ll be ready to rip. OP, Promise I’ll let you know when I get it back next week…

Ok so after having the car back for about 3 days now and getting used to it, here are my driving impressions.
The drivability with a big cam is really good; better than I expected. Really tame up to about half throttle then things get real scary. Seems like the RPM seems to hover around 2k which to me puts it right at the bottom of the power band. If I completely let off the gas it goes to about 1100 rpm. Blip the throttle then back to 2k again. Shifts occur at around 3-3500 rpm with part throttle input, smooth and crisp. Stay in it and she revs to redline (6800). I would say with this stall speed of 2800 compared to stock, the car offers a much more peppy and spirited driving experience, however that comes at a price. Driving around at 2k rpm is definitely taking a toll on fuel economy, but we don’t really much care about that right? It not the lazy, kind of sluggish Cadillac experience any more. More like a high strung European sports car feel. That is exactly what I was hoping for and I hope this review will help influence your decision.

Wow man that sounds like a very nice description of exactly what I've been wanting to know and sounds like a big plus! No issue with losing traction in regular driving?

So you just have the standard 258 circle d 2800-3000 stall?

I'm definitely considering a stall now haha. So how bad did you milage take a hit? I'm currently running about 12mpg

Yes, the 258 with 2800 stall. My tuner and I made some adjustments to the lock up, having it “lock up” at ~1600 in D mode (kinda back to stock). It cruises nice at 80 mph now. In M mode, still retains the 2k rpm “lock”, ready for action. Not sure about fuel mileage right now. Just got her back with 840 whp and running 100% E85 so she’s thirsty. Will measure fuel economy in the fall when thing “slow” down a bit
