I'm fixing some issues on my recently purchased 2016 CTSV with 22k miles and one is front brake squealing when slow braking to stops. I had a local dealer do a full used car inspection and their rotor measurement was listed as 6mm. My question is, and I apologize if I didn't find a post here that answers this, is the 6mm measurement the the amount of material worn off from the stock measurement? Or considering the comment noting dishing, maybe lateral runout? Either way, it looks like the rotors should have been replaced a while ago but I'll need to measure it myself to verify.

The Brembo rotors are made of soft metal and the centers scallop out like this. Sadly, you need new rotors. You can get away with doing a pad slap once. After these pads wear out it would be time to change the rotors too. The new pads will conform to the dish in the rotors.

There is a bulletin for brake noise, applying special copper paste to the pad ends. But being out of warranty, I doubt you would want to pay them to do it, since long term it's hit or miss.
Thanks for the tip, this must be the TSB you are referring to. It says that use of wheel cleaners or pressure washers may wash away the copper paste. If this is the case, reapplying the copper paste may be a worthwhile experiment to see if it fixes my problem. I'll need a few weekends to get to this and will repost when I'm done. Crossing fingers that this will be it so I don't have to suck it up and buy new parts so soon after purchase.

The rotors are so thin there is not much margin for turning them. Weight costs speed so the rotors are not like those of the past where you could cut them a time or two. Rockauto is probably the cheapest to get factory two piece rotors. if you go the cheaper route there are many rotors offered that are one piece design and are much cheaper. the aluminum hat on the Brembo make them lighter. your choice... I could not help but buy the original ones from Rockauto even though I wanted cross drilled. Now, I understand there are sites that offer cross drilled versions of Brembo.

thanks for that tip too! I was confused having thought that only OEM two piece front rotors were available. I'm not too concerned about that amount of added weight as it's a daily driver and not comparable to anything that I've driven in a long time. I'll do a few more minor bolt-ons where the wrenching will be fun projects and be happy with the trade off.

I'm having the dealer do the TSB in my 2019 now along with a couple of other warranty issues.

Light dish in rotors is normal and the inspection sheet says that, too. Wouldn't worry too much about that. The squealing should be able to be eliminated with the right pads installed correctly. Any idea if these are original pads...? My 2011 with 27K miles does not squeal at all and still has the original pads.

Yup, they are originals. I suppose that if I was going to try the copper paste recomendation from the TSB, then I might as well just swap out the pads and see how that goes.

New here but I had this problem on 16 V3 36,000 miles. Dealer lightly turned rotors and replaced pads, stops like a breast!
I stop for breasts too.
