Door locks won’t fully engage…

919 Views 8 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  charles.walkeriv
Has anyone experienced locks going part of the way down, but stopping prior to full engagement? Could this be the main actuator/lock unlock module? It’s the passenger front and rear driver door, not fully locking. Makes me think it’s something bigger than door actuators.
I’m installing an aftermarket passive keyless entry alarm, but I want to make sure everything’s working before I start splicing.
Thanks,

pull the door panels and lubricate the lock actuators. If that does not correct the problem the lock actuators are usually the problem.

Agree, but both front AND rear at the same time?

Who knows how long the previous owner ignored the issue. He must’ve lived in a safe area or never left anything in the car of value.

mean time between failure and they are not very robust.

I understood what you meant. I was saying, maybe one broke randomly then the other a few months or years later. Unlikely they went at the same time unless a module of some kind or voltage reg was culprit.
two doors good and two bad... I just replaced both on a friends CTSV coupe and they were both bad. The actuators failed on both and only worked on the emergency cable. What a pain since the actuator is in the body and not the door. remove the back seat and upper and all the trim to get to the actuator and cables. They work great now...
Same thing with my 2014 dyna. From oil filter to spark plug cable, “made in Taiwan” I sold the bike and swore off Harley after the give away a few years ago. Dirtbags giving away bikes to millionaires, knowing those guys have 500k customs sitting in their garages. rant over
