My 2017 V had a dead CUE system. I tried the hard reset, no luck. Screen is black.

I'm guessing I'm in for the $1500 dealer replacement module which will have the same problem in a year or 3. I am sure I am not the only one facing the replacement of the entire module.

Any advice?

There is an aftermarket screen at a significant savings. Now I have to try to find it over the next day or two.

You seem unusually angry for a Canuck.

Only the Screen is black, or the hole center Console? I had a dead Centerconsole, that means all buttons without a light and function. The Dealer install the Software new on the Controller, and my Problem was fixed.

The screen is the only thing dead. The rest of the buttons on the center stack turn on, then turn off, then turn on, then off, repeatedly every minute or so while driving. I put a new battery in as well.

And ya, I'm a little angry these days - too much shit going on here in Canada to feel anything like Canada anymore. Thanks for asking and noting - I'll tone it down a bit, eh? :)

IT sounds like you have the same problem I do. When I start the car, the logo pops up on the screen and then goes black. The radio plays but the screen has no functionality. The backup Camera works fine. For me the radio works but after about 45 seconds, there is a soft "click" (like a relay opening) and the system reboots. 45 seconds later, there is another click and it reboots again. Checking into the problem, I think it is a bad hard drive in the base unit. I think that is why all the programed functionality in the CUE doesn't work but the radio and backup camera does.

I looked into replacing it but I don't feel comfortable taking the dash and console apart to get to the base unit.

The plot thickens. My car is dead this morning. I replaced the battery a few days ago hoping that would solve the CUE issue but it didn't. Something is draining my battery down. I guess it is off to the dealer.

$2000 (Canadian) is all it takes! Replace the entire CUE, 5 hours labor and I'm up and running again.

I would bet it is only the screen. My wife’s Escalade did the same thing as you describe. Replaced the screen with a replacement from Cuescreens.com and the problems went away, and now it works normally.
