We’ll need some advice belts are both off. Going to be buying gp cam package here shortly. I had a terrible Noise and spring isolator was toast so just replaced the isolator with solid checked supercharger andthat was all good. Put it back together and now this, it sounds like noise is in intake manifold making me think lifters
Thank you

Hard to imagine how you could fuck up Lifters with what you did. But the blower is part of the manifold and the manifold has gaskets. And since the noise seems to come from the manifold, I agree "gasket" is what you should check first. Best bet, you didn't get the blower reinstalled quite right and either misaligned or squished-out the gasket somewhere...

oh no I’m sorry didn’t mean that. There was a horrible sound before I did all this and I pulled off the supercharger to do that isolator. Which was indeed bad. Then put it back together to still have A sound with rpm increase but not as much at idle anymore.

Spray some soapy water around the blower and see if it starts bubbling. To me it sounds like and open header/leak, but could just be the video. Move your hand around it, and you should feel hot air coming out, if that's what it is.

Edit, I'm thinking tire, lmao.
Your idle "should" get a little better, if the soap mixture "plugs" the leak. But your idle does not sound that bad
Or starting fluid, if you are feeling adventurous.

#7 rod bearing is my guess.

It definitely sounds like air to me, not the banging you'd expect from something mechanically broken. I don't think it's lifters or rockers or pushrods, the frequency should be 2x higher for that... If it was there before you pulled/replaced the blower, and you thought to inspect the gasket and mating surfaces before you reinstalled the blower so you're reasonably confident it wasn't bad to begin with, it really doesn't leave much else besides exhaust manifold gasket. The sound changed when you reinstalled the blower because you'd moved things around in the engine compartment and that altered the "acoustics"...

Im to the point where heads can come off. Or go further and pull motor. I feel as if I should pull the motor and check over bottom end
If you drain the oil, you can send it out for analysis and that'll be able to tell you if you've spun a bearing. Not quite a quick as doing the teardown and inspecting for yourself, but a lot, lot easier...

Hopefully it is just a lifter in the end, or something not requiring more. Removing heads is a lot of fun regardless, just finished pulling mine last week. Hope you get it figured out!

I honestly didn’t check with soap solution for leaks as I just didn’t think that would be it but of course kicking myself now: ethier way soon as I heard sound I just started tearing it down. I am planning on doing a cam and long tubes at this particular time now just debating on head removal or motor. I guess I could always remove the heads and check for cylinder issues and go from there. But ethier way all gaskets top up will be new

If you can hold-off, I agree, an oil report is a good option at this point. Turn-around with Blackstone is less than a couple weeks, plus an additional week to receive an oil sample collection kit.

Maybe consider to inspect push rods and rockers for now if deciding to go a bit further?

Yes regardless I’m gonna pull the heads. It’s new rig to me so I want to put new lifters pushrods, rocker upgrades in with the new cam. New head gaskets and arps.

Went and looked closely at intake gaskets and the 4th back look decent amount of carbon. But I don’t feel like that’s enough to cuase a nasty leak. But I work on diesel trucks used to alot of carbon

When you did the isolator, you presumably took the blower off. Those intake holes are easy to drop one of blower bolts down. Are they all accounted for?

All that buildup in one port is very suspicious.

Since it is an intake port, looks like crap is settling in that area or blowback from a leaky intake valve.

Well folks thought I’d give an update, starter tearing down and saw chewed up cam from lifter. Take a close look at cylinder and saw cylinder 1 had little taken a little beating to. Very similar to redshifts threat on his car. Except my grooves don’t feel super deep and I think I can get away less that .005 bore and salvage bottom end (not my expertise) see pictures. already ordered a lot of goodies from lt1z for cam/ top end. Now time to figure out bottom end.

I do not want to build the bottom end for big power. Just build it to be as reliable as I can. Open to suggestions.

Side note. I’m going to pull trans and take it into trans shop to just go through I’m assuming I’ll be buying a new convertor to. Has anyone pulled motor and trans together out the top?
