I guess it was, but I bought the car in January and we DID have some record low temps and snow (like 11 below and also several inches of snow ). It WAS cool or cold there for a while but I wasn’t really connecting those dots as I wasn’t driving it on the worst days.
I changed them out before really warm weather came around. Maybe it would have gone away with warmer temps…. will never know. As you can see in the video, the bushing LOOKS perfect until you see it moving.

I have the scraping noise when I go over bumps. It only happens when it is cold ( 50-60 degrees) and sitting overnight. I had the upper and lower
control arm bushings replaced with Creative Steel ones (many dollars) like the forum said and it still makes the noise. What is the consensus on the next
fix, sway bars, shocks or tie rods? Thanks my peeps.

Jack it up and pull a wheel off. Grab everything and move it around, use a prybar to wiggle stuff. There are so many moving parts under there that could be shot. You could just throw parts at it and hope one of them fixes it, or just replace EVERY wear item, or spend an hour and track down what is worn.

I replaced every suspension component on mine with whiteline bushings and a few other upgrades, and now my suspension makes more noise. I feel your pain. And also several members are chasing weird noises in their suspension and drivetrain.

Upper control arm bushings. In my case the bushings LOOKED fine, but when moving the arm I could see that the rubber had de-bonded from the inner tube so that the rubber was sliding over the steel tube rather than the rubber deflecting as designed. Look very closely, I’ll bet that’s it.
Very helpful. I think I'll be needing some control arms in addition to my front struts. Going to try and get everything checked out tomorrow before figuring out what parts to order.

confirmed with an inspection that the upper control arm bushings are needing replacement. Also need some tie rods and sway bar end links but those weren't the noise I was hearing.

Same here, worn control arm bushings. GMPP warranty is being a bit of a hassle in demanding a rep come out for approval though before proceeding. Not sure what that's about other than my warranty is about to expire. Hopefully they aren't trying a delay tactic. Also, apparently one of the control arms is in a no eta availability. Awesome. Just venting.

they probably want to check if you have aftermarket springs or running an out of spec wheel and tire set up

All of my components replaced and now, when the weather is cold the anti sway bar bushings make that groaning noise going over bumps. Have to drop the engine cradle to get to them since they are above the aluminum subframe and you cannot access the bolts unless the subframe is dropped. Going to attempt this weekend if the weather holds.

When I took it in I mentioned that as a possible cause after reading all the posts here. Covered the majority of possible causes with them: worn bushings in control arms, stabilizer bar issues and cracked subframe. Hoping they were thorough and didn't stop with just the control arm bushings. Dealer also mentioned something about above of the front struts but not the struts themselves? Waiting for the review then will get some specifics. Think I'll also request (re)checking the sway/stabilizer bar bushings since it sounds like an involved job.

Mine has always done this when its cold out. It sounds really bad and crunchy when going over a speed bump when its cold but for whatever reason it doesn't do it when its warm.

And of course GMPP denied the control arm replacements because "the bushings are fine". Now I have to go through hoops to prove it's not the cheap fix then fight again to get what's correct. I HATE warranty companies when they pull this crap.

And they almost always do.

I told my service writer to pound sand (well, not exactly. But what I did do was mock her for trying to sell me an extended warranty when I was in four days before end of warranty when she said the tech couldn’t replicate the problem I brought the car in for, where the radio was obviously glitched as I had shown her when I brought it in (I might still have the photo).
I told her the Powertrain warranty is worthless because I’m modded and they will deny anything and everything related, and when you cannot or will not correct something that is obviously warranted (see what I did there?), why should I spend money in exchange for nothing but frustration and aggravation.

American cars, forget extended warranty.
European cars, sell it if you can so you don’t have to deal with it.
Japanese cars, well, I say same as American but it will cost a little more in parts.
