Cold Air Intake

So I just picked up a 2012 CTS-V coupe and I just want to do some mild upgrades. First is a CAI, what are your recommendations and why? I really like the AFE one because it looks great when installed.
Second is an upper pulley change, once again just looking for some small improvements, what do you recommend and why?
Any other upgrades that you could recommend? I want to keep it somewhat stock looking and have no intentions of wanting serious horsepower just want to keep it very reliable.

Thank you in advance,

Derek

Airaid- Performance and sound
2.55 - Performance and any smaller you will need injectors. You might even at that point but would need to have your injector duty cycle checked or get HP Tuners and check it yourself.

Next is injectors and cooling mods.
Second above, I would perhaps start with the cooling stuff, Intercooler loop (not radiator). Replace the factory Intercooler, pump, and reinforcement of brick inside the lid. It’s an easy project you can tackle yourself and will set you up for future improvements. Airraid is great, they offer a green filter for it sold separately which will give better flow and more whine from the blower. Pullies/ injectors after that. But just my suggestion. There is lots of reading here for first mods etc. good luck!
I have the AFE CAI and it has contributed to moving my '12 SBE (stock cam and injectors also ;)) wagon as quick as 10.94 and as fast as 129.27 mph in the 1/4 mile this year. As you probably know, the AFE CAI has a supplemental air scoop that collects cold air from the grille area ducted back to the one-piece airbox. Does this help performance? While I'm no expert I'd say it hasn't hurt my combination. :) I also feel the heat resistant polyethylene plastic material coordinates with the "factory" plastics in the engine compartment.

That’s pretty clean. I do think it looks a bit better than the air raid

I agree it looks better has a great build quality and fits great, but unfortunately it funnels down to 3.5 inches at the throttle body due to the metal support ring they have on the inside to help support the t-bolt clamp It’s moving noticeably less air compared to the 4.5 inch New Era I removed and the supercharger whine is almost non existent. Great driveability but it was a waste of money for me since I plan on porting my supercharger and adding a larger throttle body.
I installed the Airaid yesterday and really did not notice any change in the supercharger whine. The Airaid fitment was good but I had to mess around with it to get it right. I guess I will order the belt kit from Mont Motorsports with a 2.55 pulley, also was going to order the front splitter from them. Not in love with it but it seems there are a lack of options when it comes to front splitters. Really not a fan of the carbon fiber look. Would like to fine one in black, possibly with the support rods and the little wings on the end.

Really? I notice huge difference from stock air box to the Airaid.

That’s because you went into boost, right?

I too noticed a big difference from a LPE modified stock intake to an Airraid.

My wife noticed right away that it sounded different. To be honest I have not been really getting on the accelerator in this car as I am still getting used to it. You would think a licensed automotive mechanic for 35 years would be getting on it right away, however a month ago I had a very serious motorcycle accident and I'm still recovering and traded 2 wheels for 4 for a while. I really wanted a Corvette but my wife kept reminding me about old guys and new Corvettes. Only having this for a week and I'm glad I didn't get a Corvette, this car is sooooo much nicer!! Time to order more parts.

It was stock when I installed it and fuck yeah I mashed the skinny pedal on the long ass on ramp to hear that beautiful whine.
