Picked this up earlier this year to turn into a drift car. Car had blown engine and popped up locally for $600. Began the tear down pulled the engine, all interior, factory harness as well as swapping put to Megan coilovers (still divorced set up). Originally I was going to put a 4.8 in it I pulled from a prior project car. I ended up breaking off the starter portion of the block and scraping the 4.8 idea. After looking at the prices of 5.3 and 6.0 engines I decided to order a c5 ls1.

I had a 2003 cts I turbo'd and it was fun at the road course. Handled really well. I was too poor at the time to get the V in 04

Working on this today, pulling the bad 4.8 out, and prepping the c5 engine this week. Need to get the oil pans swapped out as the vett pan won't work. Probably will drop it in next weekend and start building a Trans mount. After will need to figure out a shifter solution as I'm using a camaro t56.

Made a little progress today, ls1 is in but have a couple clearance issues to figure out (f body pan) touches the subframe. Also the alt doesn't currently clear the strut tower.

I'd say you're pretty hard-core for doing all that work in your driveway. Except you used an actual engine hoist instead of a tree branch.

To answer all in one, no my neighbors are all pretty cool about it (built many cars in this drive way over the years). Have no where else currently to build it till I hear back about a house I'm looking at. Car will not get boost my actual v is looking like it'll get a turbo or some spray tho.
