I washed my car last night and put it in the garage. This morning I got in it and noticed the dome lights didn’t come on and when I pushed the start button nothing happened. The whole car is dead. I just replaced the battery a couple of months ago and the only thing that’s plugged in is a USB that’s not hooked to anything. I hook up and tried my zero-G starter but it didn’t do anything. Any suggestions?

If your battery is completely drained then the zero g won’t work. If you have a meter see if the battery is under 6v. If you have another car and can reach the dead car with jumper cables you should be able to bring the battery up to a point that the jumper can do it’s thing.

The car is backed in the garage, and since I can’t get the glove box open, I need to ask how to take the he car out of gear to move it so I can access the battery. The jumper post under the hood should work right? Also how do I open the trunk with a dead battery - pull the seats down and climb in from the pass-thru and pull in the emergency release?

No, the doors were closed all the way. The interior lights usually turn off after a few minutes so that shouldn’t run the battery down, right?

Pop the hood, charge the battery from the post. Move it later to get to the trunk.

Some jump boxes will not detect or jump a completely dead battery. My lithium ion jump box has an emergency mode that will jump a battery under 6v but you have to put it in bypass mode by holding the power and light button down for 5 seconds.

I jumped it with my truck and yes, the battery was dead, really dead. It had to be hooked up for about 5 minutes before it had enough juice to stop clicking and actually turn over. I drove it around the block and came back home and tried to start it again and it would barely crank. It looks like I’m installing another battery this weekend. I’ll try to find a fresher battery this time.

You likely still have something drawing power to run it down like that.

Ugh.

I've seen new batteries with bad cells out of the box a few times. Swap it out for a new one under warranty. It'll work. Watch.

Battery turned out to be a defective unit. The Walmarts around me didn’t have anymore of the battery that fits my car and I didn’t want some Ho Chi Minh brand so I went to Cadillac and got an AC Delco unit. Unfortunately since the Walmart battery crapped out after 90 days they won’t refund me, so I’ll just take the replacement battery sell it on Offer-Up.

Moral of the story: Don’t buy batteries for your V at Walmart.

Just because it’s made by a reputable manufacture does not necessarily mean it is made to the same standards or using the same quality of componentry. If you have good history with these products, then by all means continue to use them, but I just wanted to point out that the manufacturer doesn’t necessarily mean the same quality.
