So clearly there are some TPMS questions on here, but mine is a bit different from what I could find. I switched wheels from my wifes Camaro and threw her wheels and tires on to my CTS. These wheels from her Camaro are from Jon here and Bestwheeldeals.com, and are about a year old So I kmow the batteries are good in them. For whatever reason I can’t not only get my relearn tool to sense them, but I even went by Discount tire and they couldn’t get two superstate relearn tools to read them. Seems to me these aftermarket sensors somehow need to be reset or something. How I do that is the question? Has anyone ever switched wheels from one car or the other and had this issue?
I know my relearn tool works bc I used it to program them when we bought the wheels last year and may V a few years ago. Anyone have a clue on this one?

What year camaro? Newer camaros (6th gen) have a TPMS frequency of 433 Mhz. Vs have a 315 Mhz frequency. That's what I would check.

are there different sensors for different vehicles? Did you check with GM or another supplier’s part numbers to see if they interchange?

Not sure I understand what you mean Karch, but these sensors are aftermarket sensors that the guy here sells and that came with the wheels and tires. I assumed they would work bc these wheels and tires off the Camaro(2017) are the same wheels and tires on my V(Z28 Replicas) and they work just fine. I also programmed them with my relearn tool back when I got them. I’m also not sure what type or brand they sensors are.

Oh, ok. I was saying pretty much what the others said, that perhaps they use different sensors (frequency).

If they are supposed to work on both the Camaro and the V then I’m not sure what the issue is.

This is why I’m an ME and an EE. If something doesn’t work or breaks, it’s fairly easy to figure it out if it’s mechanical :)

It's the frequency that db-guru posted above. A 433mhz sensor won't work on a 315mhz system.

So even if they’re the same aftermarket sensors that are on my V they won’t program bc I‘ve already programmed them to the Camaro? If so, can they be reset?
I’ve bought 2 sets of replica Z28 wheels and tires from the same guy here, am I to assume he sent two different types of sensors even though they’re identical wheels and tires?

My apologies for my ignorance and confusion here. And just to be clear.…..

2 sets of Z28 replica wheels ad tires with sensors
1 set still on V
1 set moved from 2017 Camaro to 3.6 CTS
both sets I programmed when they arrived here

If you gave the vendor of the wheels the model year they were being installed on, he sent the proper sensors for each vehicle.

Google 2017 Camaro TPMS and you'll see that they are 433mhz. Your 2012 V is 315mhz. They are not interchangeable.

I did email him and he just told me to hold the relearn tool on the tire and not the valve stem. Lol I guess I’ll hit him up again and explain the situation again. Appreciate it Jim

Many aftermarket sensors are "universal", they work with a range of different manufacturer vehicles. The way they work is, they have to be "personalized" for the specific vehicle type. If the vehicle you're moving them to isn't set up for that type, they don't work. These sensors can be reconfigured, but you have to have a tool to do it, it's not something you can do with just a magnet - at least, not as far as I know.

Go to a GM parts website and see if the PN for the Camaro and CTS sensors is the same. If not, then they're probably not compatible.

I’m a little hard headed, sometimes it takes two times to get through, but yes, you did. 🤷🏼
Just came accross this thread and I now understad the issue. I sent you a setup of 2017 Camaro [uses 433 MHZ sensor] and you moved the wheels to 3.6 CTS [uses 315 MHZ sensor]. It won't work; CTS is looking for 315 MHZ. You need new sensors.
