Recently my car started having issues with losing communication with the ABS module along with my service suspension, traction control light, power steering seems to have cut out, and my parking brake will not engage. I’m thinking i need to replace my module but im hoping some of you guys that might have had a similar issue could chime in and help me out.

Hello,

I'm sorry to bring this up from the dead.

I had the same problem with my car. Do you know where the ABS Module is located? I brought my car to the dealership, they said it was the module. Unfortunately the part is on back order with no date in sight. I had to buy a used part and the dealer doesn't have any open appointments. I think I can do it because it looks like it's 4 torx bolts, a harness, and the module.

For another data point, here were my symptoms:
  • Steering was firm, but there was still some power steering
  • "Service Power Steering" message came on on Day 2

I think the dealer took the module out completely because now I'm getting all the warnings. No Stabilitrak, ABS, parking brake doesn't work, etc. . .

Thank you

The module is located right by your passenger front wheel kind of above where the ducting for your brake cooler is. Im pretty sure it has to be programmed when you install it so that might require you to go to the dealer to do that after you install. I highly doubt the dealership removed it, your module probably just totally failed. Im a transmission tech at a cadillac dealership and when i was at work last Saturday I decided to unplug mine and tried to put some dielectric grease in my plug to see if that would help and mine decided to totally fail as well, so i have all your same symptoms unfortunately. A lot of GM parts are on galactic back order right now.

I had to buy a used part and thankfully it worked. I didn't install it, the dealer did. However I noticed my steering is very ... very light. I no longer feel any kind of road feedback. Is that from the ABS Module? Or was I just so use to the heavy steering from before?

Try this part number that worked for me 20766618.

You were probably just used to your power steering being cut. I could probably feel a dime in the road in mine right now with how much the power steering is cut lol. I will be purchasing my ABS module soon so i will definitely try that part number out.

I don't know why GM didn't link the two part numbers together. I successfully bought my used part from Amazon. The guy was kinda dishonest because he didn't disclose the old part number, he advertised it as the current part number.

Here's the seller where I bought it from:

You're actually a GM employee, but I just wanted to tell you anyways. The entire ABS pump assembly is going to be mailed out, even though you only need the module.

Well after waiting forever to see if the module would ever come off of backorder, i gave up and purchased a module from the seller you linked me. Hopefully that works, wish me luck!

I had the same problem a week ago. I brought it to my mechanic and he said it was the bearing that needs to be replaced. The mechanic suggested to change the abs sensor also. Total cost was $600.
