Well……I drove my 10k mile stock 2019 V over a 6” curb and it bent both actuators and pushed the entire tailpipe section up about 1/2” were it’s touching the carbon fiber. From Cadillac the price for everything from the cars back is $3,500 including labor. The actuators are not replaceable as they are integrated with the pipes.

Suggestions? Will it void the warranty? Will an aftermarket exhaust as a stand alone mod really make any difference other than more noise?

Thanks.

Exhaust will not void a warranty. The actuators are replaceable as they are removed and reused for aftermarket systems with dual mode. It just looks like GM doesnt sell them separately so it would be a junkyard item if you can find it. Also the exhaust is only sold as a one piece catback for about 2K so with labor 3500 isnt far off.

I would put an aftermarket exhaust on of your choosing. You are looking at 2K if you do the work yourself. If you want to retain the dual mode you would need to source those actuators somewhere. If you really want to keep the stock exhaust I'm sure it can be found somewhere for list price at 2K and you can put it in yourself. Do a search on the forum, as a lot of folks complain about drone with aftermarket exhaust.

Personally if it was me I would be torn. The stock exhaust is too quiet so I would spend 2K on a cat back, but I also love the dual mode feature. If I HAD to spend 2-3K I would just got with a quality stainless cat back.

Thank you for your reply. I decided to purchase the stock system. The car is in like new condition and if I were to ever sell, any mods can be left up to the new owner. I don’t track the car and the hp increase would be negligible for street purposes. 640 hp is arguably a bit much for a 2 wheel drive street car, but it sure is fun!!!

I hear that. The car is already too fast for me (and these tires). I put an intake on to hear the blower whine and next I’ll do an axle back if I can ever get ahold of one. Catback exhaust really gives you minimal gains unless you have headers or more mods. It’s really just for the sound.

Also not my business how you hopped a curb, but whatever you do leave the traction control on if you are not on a track!
