I got a 2012 V sedan. The airbag light was coming on intermittently for awhile. Took it to a Cadillac dealer and they said the passenger seat presence module is bad (even though all they checked were codes and didn't bother checking the wires underneath) Anyone have this issue and get it resolved? I really don't want to replace the whole seat for $1,700 if it can be a simple wire fix. Thanks

Oh forgot to mention its on all the time now.

you can bypass it with resistors if you cannot find a passenger seat presence pad. I am thinking we could find another Cadillac model at the wrecking yard and cannibalize the passenger seat presence sensor. I bypassed the sensor on my BMW E39 when it failed since I could not find one. the sensor just tells the airbag computer that there is someone in the seat. bad sensor no airbag. if you drive someone in your car and the passenger airbag does not go off you will be in a lawsuit. you don't what that... Or, for that matter, getting someone hurt. Crazy this is not a recall or even a Technical Service Bulletin. Crazy that the presence sensor is make in some country in Eastern Europe...

I gave up and bought a universal seat occupancy sensor bypass off of eBay and will have it on the shelf since this is probably the next thing to go...
Didn't you post a video on how to do this on another car? Just curious if you had an opportunity to see if it would be difficult on our cars. I might need to do this. Unfortunately I think both of my seat sensors are not working correctly...

I have a feeling this will strike mine before long as even the iPhone charging cable will trigger it. I'm wondering though, about this possible approach: The 'problem' in my car isn't that the airbag won't fire (I think) but only that the PPM thinks there's someone in the seat AND... they aren't using the SEAT BELT. I mean, it never has a problem when someone is actually in the car, wearing the belt.
Couldn't the issue be fixed by addressing the seat belt? Hook it up to satisfy the monitor that if someone's there, they have their belt on? Use resitors to fake it being attached? This should allow the airbag to fire.
Of course, if the PPM is broken/ not talking at all, that won't help.
