I recently purchased a clean low mileage V2 with airraid intake, BTR stage 3 cam, and catback exhaust. I would like to have the car tuned as i am not happy with the trans tuning. I am being told stock injectors are not enough for my mods. I also have a 2.55 upper pulley to install. Can i get some recommendations for supporting mods before tuning?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah I’d definitely say you need some injectors ASAP. Are you planning on flex fuel also?

I would like to do E85 at some point. From my research I think I would need a fuel pump upgrade also which I would rather not do at this time. I will likely go with a large enough injector now that I won’t need to upgrade injectors again for E85.

I’d look into the DSX flex fuel kit and DSX aux pump kit and ID1050x.

Tuner is suggesting 1300’s. Can I get by without hx upgrades at this point?

Depending on location it might heat up pretty quick.
If you already have a cam, and maybe lower ? (Idk who does stage 3 cam and puts stock crank pulley back on). You should be up there duty % vise.
I would just do the whole fuel deal with injectors dsx aux and flex kit. Multiple vendors here can help you out with that.

Also, with fuel you might as well go with 2.45, well, depending on your current lower, and make sure your brick is reinforced.

I am located in NW Georgia. I have confirmed with the PO upper and lower pulleys are stock. He only did the cam.

It depends on how far you want to go in the future. You probably should have injectors with the stage 3 cam but 1300s are a lot. When you go up to 1300s or more you are going to sacrifice low fueling control (cruising around). You will start running into short pulse issues at low fuel requirements. If you are definitely going to go e85 and will mostly run E85 it is not a bad idea as the flow rates are higher so you will run into less short pulse issues. Also if it is mostly a track car. But a 2.55 upper/air raid/cam is not really in the territory of 1300s/fuel pump replacement, it is relatively conservative. Usually people with replacement pumps and big injectors are > 700whp

Edit: also with the HX, you live in a relatively warm area. If your IAT2's get high you will start pulling a lot of spark and possibly hit knock based on your tune. You could go without it but make sure spark is not very aggressive. Sometimes people get their car tuned in cool temps without high IAT and then the IAT spark offset table is not enough to fix it.

Price difference between ID1050X and ID1300X is only ~$760, it kinda makes sense to buy injectors once, in my opinion, and their drivability is pretty normal.
I would get HX+headers or mids regardless, GA does gets hot as balls.

If you plan on going for big power down the road (ported heads, blower, etc etc) you’re going to need the fuel, and a way to keep IAT temps down. It’s kind of like a rabbit hole, because once you start, you realize you need other things to support this mod and that mod.

before you start throwing money at mods, I would nail down what you really want out of the car as far as power goes. That will help you eliminate buying some things and having to upgrade them down the road.

with the stage 3 came already in there, and adding other mods to go with it, you may want to look into heads so that things are flowing well and you’re getting the most efficient setup for the mods.

others with more time on the LSA are sure to chime in as this forum is a wealth of knowledge. Paging rubber duck

If there was zero downside to running larger injectors other than price, and you could easily run out of headroom with the 1050s I'd agree. But there is a downside to running the larger injectors other than that additional money in everyday driving. More of your fueling area is in the short pulse area when you are running ~30% larger injectors than the already ~100% larger than stock injectors.

If you don't care about normal driving dynamics or intend on using e85 mostly, doing fuel pump replacement and going for massive power, 1300 is fine. But you'd have to go really big to make the 1050s too small.

I don’t have any plans to get crazy with power, but I also know how that can escalate unintentionally. It is just a weekend car and will spend alot of time in the garage but I want it to stay reliable as my family will be in it with me quite often.

Any idea what kind of power I’m looking at with the cam, intake, exhaust, upper pulley, injectors and a tune on 93?

All your answers are here:

If you run flex and not straight ethanol, most likely you can get by fine on 1050x…unless you run full ethanol and full tilt bolt ons with everything ported.

Tuner is very concerned that my current mods are to much for stock injectors and advised not to being doing any WOT pulls until I upgrade injectors. That has me nervous and I think I’m going to go ahead and order some 1050s and get my pulley swapped out and try to get it tuned as early as possible so I know it’s safe.

So I shouldn’t have any cruising driveability issues with 1000 cc injectors? Currently looking at the fuel injector connection 1000cc

If you have a good tuner it should drive just fine. I have ID1050x and my car idles and drives like stock. Ask your tuner if they have a preferred injector and what they have the best luck tuning with.

Again, countless examples of people here running all those injectors, with success.

A good tuner can deal with the 1300’s just fine, it just depends on if you expect to need that much fuel and if so, you will need additional fuel supply to support it.

Countless threads on this very subject.

Pony up now for the ID13000s and don't look back when you get the pullies swapped.
