The wife's Audi is white as is her Tesla. Both are metallic flake paints. The best her car ever looked was when V wagon owner and detailer Andrew Holder came by and did a full polish and detail for us. Whatever he did - that white paint gleamed. I think he's on Facebook mainly - and he has a...

My wife reminded me - we got a much larger subsidy when we installed new high efficiency AC units and added insulation to our house. And I'm with you on private industry building out infrastructure. My power provider doesn't ask or really care what I am using their electricity for. It could be...

Good idea - will do tomorrow. Update: measured both cars in about two dozen spots. Both cars are proportionately thinner around all painted areas that aren't the visible exterior surface. On the photos, the small number to the upper left of the large thickness number is the total # of...

Sure - lots of factors affect it. And hurricanes def throw shit way off. Here in Texas the heat can cause pretty significant changes in load. Brownouts and rolling blackouts aren't uncommon due to peak load variations. It may be different in other areas, but peak load is easily seen here during...

For those curious about Tesla paint, I bought a decent quality paint thickness gauge. Comparing to our Audi, it does appear the Tesla paint is a little thinner. I measured in dozens of places. The Tesla paint was pretty consistent- almost always measuring between 110 and 125 microns. Our Audi...

60-130. Have video too...will upload once I figure it out. Edit: had to record my screen but video should be there now. For reference my V was about 7.3 sec under ideal conditions. (Right gear, ready to rock) As you can see the Tesla is faster than a nearly 800whp V from 60 to 70 and 70 to...

I'm charging about once every week or two based on miles traveled. Yes - total grid capacity would have to expand, but not nearly as much as people think. Many cars would also charge during off-peak hours, further reducing the need to expand capacity. If everyone charges once a week, each day...

Sort of, but the S has close to twice the usable space. The Porsche has a trunk with a small opening, and the usable volume is also on the small side. The rear of the S is actually a hatch that opens with a larger opening than my V wagon had. And there's a huge lower trunk underneath the floor...

Short answer: No, I am 100% sure this isn't a systemic issue...but it makes good click-bait headlines. Regarding that specific article from dailymail.co.uk - Kettleman has around 50 charging stalls. So a 50 car line means you are really just waiting on one person to leave, not 50. It would be...

Justin and Wen used to live just a few miles away from me. Both super nice people. Miss having a good tuner who could ride along any time. Glad to hear they are still laying it down. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

That 3 motor powertrain is likely to be a real beast. I'm getting nearly 800hp out of my S right now. A third motor and maybe a tweak to the battery pack should yield 900-1000hp. More tire will def be needed tho. What we REALLY need tho are weights to come down....

So I'm finally getting around to spending some time on the suspension of the Tesla S (and X). With the Raven update, Tesla radically improved the suspension system. The new system (on both our cars) is an air-adaptive and height adjustable system with variable damping and rebound with a remote...

Insurance is about $75 more per month (that's for both Teslas vs the Audi SQ5 and the V), and that's for pretty much double the covered vehicle price so not too bad IMO. If it matters, that was on a $5M umbrella policy. Standalone car ins might differ a bit. The Tesla forums are ok. Plenty of...

I meant to post these pics here instead of another thread. This is the service center by my house in Houston. Instead of a service drive, you pull to an automated door and drive inside up to the service desk. There's no automated wash here...hand wash only in an inside bay. The waiting area...

IN THEORY a Tesla (and most EV's) should need far less service and maintenance. But this mainly applies to the powertrain and brakes (because slowing down in an EV recharges the battery, putting far less wear on the brakes - I literally haven't touched my brake pedal in a week) The rest of the...

Dragy is really good - based on comparisons I've seen with VBox and others, it's right on as far as accuracy goes. I'm using it on Android but iPhone works equally well best I can tell. The ability to capture video is handy. Not really a PDR/track tool though. But worth the money easily IMHO.

Autoloss.com? They usually charge an upfront fee of $250-$350, but might be worthwhile to engage them if you haven't already. I do agree this is a pretty small claim and while as a former V owner I am with you 100% on the aftermarket paint, that might not be seen as a big issue as compared to...
