    intercooler pump alternative.

Ok all I posted something in a FS thread but figured since the pump sold it wouldn't get much traffic. After seeing the ZR1 pump FS thread it got me thinking and researching some. Here is what I have come up with and was wondering if anyone has look at this before. The ZR1 pump appears to be made by Pierburg out of Germany and after doing some digging looks to be almost the same as there CWA 50 pump. This pump is used in some newer BMW applications as well as hybrid setups like the Azure Transit Connect Electric as such it seems to be cheap you can find them on Ebay as well as other sites for 75-200.

The data looks promising at just over 10 gpm at 5 psi. Here is a post over at another forum with a write up on the pump Intercooler Pump you didn't know about - Page 4 - MBWorld.org Forums. If this data is correct it may be a vary interesting alterntive at a cheaper price of course some wiring will have to be done to get it all working. Also the CAW-100.2 used on some MB AMG's as a tras cooler pump could also be used. Thoughts?

If you look at the CWA-50 pump data it looks to match the ZR1 pump at 5 psi and can be had for 75-200 hell 280 from a BMW dealer. BMW part number 17122284291 the CWA-100.2 can be had for about 400 from MB part number 0005000486. If I can find a CWA-50 for 100 I'm thinking I'll be the guinea pig on this one and try it out.

Yes it does and the ford harness can be cut and spliced into the factory or any other harness setup for the Bosch pump.

According to the flow/pressure spec's on the item listing, that pump is no better than the stock one.

The one from the GT500 13-14 models flows just about the same at the ZR1 pump. The 09-12 GT500 uses the same Bosch pump a ctsv comes with.

I picked one up since I could use a better a pump to go with the track attack but it will be a while before I get around to installing it.

The ZR1 pump is expensive but other than making a bracket it is plug n play including the electrical connector. Only "down side" which doesn't even bother me is it is kinda loud.

I think the point the OP is making is that this may be an alternative to the ZR1 pump at a fraction of the cost.

edit: I typed Zl1 (junk) instead of ZR1.

I talked to my sales rep about the Johnson pump.
To be sure we are talking about 3/4" hose with mounting bracket?
I have options with or without the bracket an also 1 1/2" hose.

I'm asking about case prices in case a few members are interested.

The 3/4 version, I would think 1 1/2 would be a little overkill. As for the bracket not sure I would say with I mean the price can't be that much more.

    Definitely the 3/4" version.
If I get one, I'll try to test it out with a ZR1 and EMP pump and report back, but I need to find a HX to use for bench testing.
