Just out of curiosity, am I supposed to be impressed by any of that?

100k? Great. That's just getting broken in for most trucks.

Mid 12s in a 1/4 mile? Sounds about as exciting as watching paint dry.

My bad bud, I use my trucks like trucks.

Just last week traded in a 1998 GMT400 (K1500) Diesel 330K on the clock, still running strong. Which they had a diesel option for the transit I bought.

150k strong here. I'd consider a new one if they'd put some effin rear ac vents in!

Enter the 2017+ 2500 HD duramax. 445hp and 910ft lbs caught my attention. I have never owned a diesel and all the stigma that goes with it. But like a month to flame, this truck intrigues me.

I don't tow much anymore, but I do plow snow in my neighborhood, about 2 driveways and 1 mile of private road. So this truck is overkill.

For the duramax or diesel experts, am I crazy to do this for a long term high mileage Daily truck?

I just pulled my Ram 400 miles and didn't know it was back there. It's quieter than the wife's escalade. I absolutely love it. I got $11k off msrp

I just bought a brand new 2500HD Duramax crew cab short bed High Country last year...Absolutely love it. I just tuned it with a emission compliant Duramaxtuner Spade tuner. 5 tunes for about $1000. Don't want to deal with emissions until I finally leave this state. Runs awesome and couldn't be happier. All I need now is a lift pump to be able to run the race program.

I'll check it out. Is it worth it?

To me it was...easy to load and I run the "Sport/Econo" tune all the time. I did mine before my warranty was even up...couldn't wait...glad I didn't...warranty's up now anyway...

The diesel will last longer. We have some 2011-2015 Super Dutys that are 300+k miles on them. One thing to think about is the fact that you will have more money in maintaining the diesel. 11-15qts of oil. Have to change fuel filters every 10k miles. All that and the ass end will ride like a wagon regardless of trim level but it will pull anything you want to within reason. I love them but right now I have just settled on a 1/2 ton truck.

thought GM had that ECU where they can detect any tunes?

I have a 06 LBZ I use for a DD and absolutely love it. If I had to do it all over, I would have waited on the 07 with the LBZ and gotten the newer body style. I have 157K on it and have had nothing big as far as the engine until now and I will be putting on a turbo pretty soon due to a reoccurring P003A code. I have replaced the front suspension with some heavy duty Kryptonite parts, but I'm running 315's so I had expected to wear things out earlier than normal.

The new emissions systems are not a big deal if you follow the maintenance recommendations and avoid long idle times. You simply can't beat the Duramax/Allison combo, so I would say go for it.

LBZ ended with the 07 Classic. I'm very lucky to have one!
