    New V for a newbie

Former G8 GXP owner finalizing my search for a V sedan. I'd been looking for an '11-'13 manual sedan with modest miles but found a super low mileage '09 instead. I put a deposit on it earlier this week and should have the deal finalized on Monday. Then it's just a matter of shipping it out here to Northern CA.

She's Thunder Gray with Light Titanium Recaros and no suede accents or wood trim. The kids will love the UltraView roof!

Congrats brother! Get those pictures up when the deal finalizes. Give us some more details in the meantime... color, Recaro, stock/modded, etc.

I just recently went from a 500whp Vette to a V a few months ago myself. For you, it'll be familiar territory coming from the GXP.

I definitely thought about it. I drove my GXP home from Salt Lake City. I'm a bit more reluctant to attempt driving the V home with the snow in South Dakota.

Also, I'd prefer not to jump the odometer 25% either. LOL

It has nothing to do with my skills (or lack thereof) in the snow. Some people used to say I looked like Val Kilmer when I was (much) younger. I had a 5.0 Mustang in high school. Combine the two and you get the screen name I've used on every automotive forum I've been on. I'm sure you were dying to know that bit of worthless background. LOL

I figured it was the G8 board. Oddly enough, a guy just reached out to me today with questions about the GXP.

Regarding the Boss, it's a long story with a short summary. I went through a nasty divorce about 4 years ago. The Boss had to go because of legal expenses and related issues. Fortunately, it only went as far as my dad. Unfortunately, he loves the car and isn't ready to sell it back to me yet. Fortunately, he's guaranteed that I'm the only person he will ever sell it to.

Sucks to hear about your circumstances, but it is a very good thing your Dad picked up the car.

Damn it. Your all caps "HERE" effectively lured me in. That carbon fiber splitter is a nice piece!

My circumstances are fantastic. I'm happily remarried to a woman who loves cars. Some husbands battle with their wives over car parts and mods; mine is an enabler. LOL

Man, I almost bought that one. He had it on Ebay for a great price. Glad someone picked it up. It definitely looked very clean.

Seriously? Too funny. He had just listed it on eBay the day I first called. After speaking with him about the car and finding out how pristine it is, I instantly sent him a deposit to take it off of eBay.

Had it on my watchlist 10 minutes after it was listed. Called with a couple questions. Really it was higher then my price range and not my favorite color but boy did it look good. I even pulled the pics up on my large screen to find any problems and it just looks beautiful. Almost pulled the trigger but held out. Hope you enjoy it.

Just fly out on drive it home! When I bought my C5 Corvette, I flew to central Wisconsin from southeast New Mexico and drove it home, 1600 miles. No better way to get to know the car than getting some seat time with it. When I bought the V, it was in Dallas, only about 7 hour trip but it was great. Your gonna love it. Congrats "

Thank you for passing on it. I owe you a beer.

I'm hoping it will be here before Christmas. I suck at the whole patience thing.

For a car that hasn't seen rain, it would be shame to slap on some snow chains and cross my fingers on getting home from South Dakota without some kind of damage. By the time I bought a flight and paid for fuel, it's not that much more money to have it shipped in an enclosed trailer. Besides, over 1100 miles would be a big jump on the odometer.

Didn't realize it was in S Dakota. I wouldn't want to drive it out of there either. I have the lt grey recaros in my coupe. The grey interior was my first priority. You will love it!

My top priority was finding an M6. The rare gray interior was just an added bonus. Is it tough to keep clean?

So far mine has been pretty easy to keep clean, no food and only water if you're thirsty, love the interior would be pissed if the inserts got stained.

Same here. My cars are not restaurants. Plenty of other places to eat and drink.

It hasn't been bad at all. Like you said, I don't eat in the car. Love the lighter color. My Vette had black insides and I just wanted a change. To me, it makes the car feel larger on the inside.

Glad you have taken the plunge on a great vehicle! Welcome to the Petrol and Tire Torching family!
Be mindful of the rear-diff, some of the 2009's had a couple issues with some of them. Check the vehicle history to see if it was replaced.
    Rear differential replaced under warranty
Otherwise if you don't hear any clunking or whine while turning tight circles you should be good!
Don't like useless worry, but wanted to run it by ya.

Be mindful of the rear-diff, some of the 2009's had a couple issues with some of them. Check the vehicle history to see if it was replaced.
