    Fuel pump hatch

For you guys who had to cut the hole for the pump drop-in, if you didn't use the hatch that jlinks sell, what did you use instead?

I'm going to order one from him, I just need to get it sealed up until the one from him comes in, he doesn't have the means to get one out to me this week and I needed it sealed for or by the weekend so I'm looking for an alternative until I can get my hands on his....now...do you have any other idea of how I could seal it in the mean time?

I used some rubber sealant tape that we use at work and the piece I cut out. Basically covered all the edges on the body and the piece I removed with the tape and then stuck it back in. And then covered it all with foil tape. Worked perfect and I know no fums or exhaust will get in, that stuff seals tight as hell it is used to seal cable entrys on fiber splice cases.

I ordered the hatch, but I think mine was not bent correctly to fit the opening. I still have to get in touch with him about a possible refund as my current solution works and can still be opened if needed.

I drove around for a week or two without the hatch cover on. I just put the seat cushion in and it was fine.

Cool, thanks all. Going to place my order with him today, just didnt know if it was safe to ride around without it or if one could be temporarily made.

I haven't cut my V yet but back when I did my camaro I just attached two thin strips of metal to the piece I cut out which were wider than the piece so it would sit in place without falling through. Then I caulked around the gap from the cut and taped over that. put the carpet back over it and never saw it again.
